Fédération Québécoise des Massothérapeutes Agréés

Disafiliation of the Kiné-Concept Group

News

Montreal, April 2, 2019

Dear members and students,

The FQM acknowledges the decision by Groupe Kiné-Concept’s new management not to renew its membership with the Fédération, thus marking a new chapter in the organization’s history. It’s important to mention that former Kiné-Concept and Guijek owners, Sylvain Magnan and Daniel Turcotte, committed themselves wholeheartedly to developing a quality training program in collaboration with the FQM.

Both were true massage therapy pioneers, and as leading partners of the FQM, they fully upheld its mission, vision and values. These two builders and FQM members worked tirelessly to promote the recognition of massage therapists as health professionals integrated into Québec’s care continuum. The FQM played an active part in establishing the highest quality standards at the Kiné-Concept and Guijek institutes, thus ensuring that massage therapists have access to the best training and teaching available (ISO 9001:2015).

Today, we reiterate the commitment we first made some 40 years ago, to pursue our mission to qualify and support massage therapists in their professional practice and to inform and protect the public. We do so in accordance with our values of integrity, excellence, effective listening, and respect for members, partner schools and the public.

Support and for students at Kiné-Concept and Guijek

As students at the Kiné-Concept and Guijek institutes, you have placed your trust in the FQM and continue to do so. Under the circumstances, we reaffirm out pledge to support you throughout your training and professional career.

In this context, the FQM will continue to recognize the training that students complete at the Kiné-Concept and Guijek institutes for a period for two years, from March 26, 2019 to March 25, 2021.

The FQM continues its collaboration with accredited schools

The FQM, in collaboration with accredited schools, wishes to ensure the sustainability of quality training in Québec. It also intends to offer ongoing professional training under which students are given the tools and support they need to face job market challenges, develop their business (taxation, administrative management) or their services as self-employed massage therapists. In addition, the FQM will ensure the profession’s development by supporting best practices in massage therapy in Québec based on the research available.

Yours sincerely,

The members of the FQM board of directors
